According the Federal Railroad Administration thousands of accidents occur each year at railroad crossings. But, not all accidents are due to driver error. Others may be at fault.
Many times fault occurs from equipment failure aboard the train, crossing signal failure, or operator error such as train personnel failing to give the legally required signal or failing to keep train equipment properly repaired. Unfortunately, many train accidents result in death or serious injury.
